McDonald Peak, Mission Mountains, Montana
The moon rises over McDonald Peak (9,800 feet) in the tribal wilderness area of Montana's Mission Mountains. Located on the Confederated Salish Kootenai (Flathead) Indian Reservation, the peak was named for the Hudson Bay Company's Angus McDonald who built the nearby trading post, Fort Connah, in 1846 and married into the Nez Perce tribe.
